What You Really Want to Know

We are always bringing in different kinds of merchandise and continually looking for more sourcing opportunities to expand our offerings. In other words, our inventory is ever-changing and we encourage customers to ask about the availability of specific types of merchandise because common requests influence our sourcing! However, there are also certain types of merchandise we bring in on a regular basis for our customers who are interested in making routine purchases. These types of pallets are indicated below.

We require in-person payment and pickup for all merchandise. We do not accept remote payment and we do not offer shipping on a per-pallet basis. These services would introduce logistical issues that complicate the transaction and require more resources, in effect increasing prices and the likelihood of a negative customer experience. Remote payment and shipping arrangements are currently only offered for purchases of entire truckloads. These services may be made available on a per-pallet basis in the future provided: (1) There is enough customer demand. (2) We can ensure a positive customer experience standard through careful consideration of how to address the logistic issues associated with these services.

We understand this can be seen as an inconvenience for some, but we know our customers appreciate the savings and protections these policies afford! Once purchased, we will wrap up the pallet(s) to secure the contents and will load the pallet(s) onto your truck bed or trailer with our on-site forklift. Customers are required to secure the pallet itself to the truck bed or trailer. We cannot allow customers to tear down a pallet onsite to load into the cabins of personal vehicles because of the time and space required to do so.

We liquidate big name brick and mortar box stores and popular ecommerce sites. We prefer to purchase smaller items, generally no bigger than a piece of household furniture. The nature of the merchandise we bring in is dependent on the merchant, processing facility, liquidation style, and season.

We usually bring truckloads into our warehouse with the primary intention of acquiring individually sellable inventory items. We do this by pulling one pallet at a time away from a shipment to break down and sort through, leaving the other pallets untouched and available for sale. Every item in a pallet is separated to sell online, sell in our store, liquidate in bulk, or thrown away. We think of the stock we find for our store in two broad classifications, name brand merchandise and essentials (like daily use items and staples), but we separate the stock more specifically based on the categories listed on our Merchandise page. It is here that you can get an idea of what type of merchandise you might expect in a pallet you purchase from us. After all, we work from the same truck deliveries!

We do not cherry pick pallets, not only is it dishonest and bad for business, but we would have to go out of our way to do it! We hold honesty and transparency in the highest esteem within our business, which is to say that the only thought that crosses our mind on the matter is how to corroborate our conduct. To that end, one of the reasons we require payment and pickup at our warehouse is to give potential customers an opportunity to see our operation and ask us anything they want in order to gather their own opinion of our morals, motives, and merchandise. The truth is that we genuinely want our pallet customers to be happy, which is why we use a sales structure that is mutually beneficial for buyer and seller. In addition to our emphasis on consumer education, our low margin markup pricing reduces the profit threshold for our customers, increasing the likelihood of success and return business, which is something a low margin seller like ourselves must trust to happen in order to match or exceed the profitability of high margin approaches. Our profits are tied to our customer’s satisfaction, anything that threatens our customer’s satisfaction also threatens our profits, which is something we state in order to provide peace of mind and purchase confidence for our customers!

What We Really Want Our Customers to Know

We believe success and satisfaction is dependent on understanding and expectations, and as we explained above, the viability of our operation is tied to customer outcomes and experiences. This is why we put such a huge emphasis on educating our customer base and take an uncompromising stance on how we sell and who we sell to. We benefit when our customers are happy, and when they aren’t because of a lack of understanding or unmet expectations (which we assume responsibility for establishing before every sale), we risk our reputation, open ourselves to defamation, and forfeit future business. These are serious consequences that we have to be mindful of when providing others the opportunity to do what we do, but we are comfortable extending this opportunity when a conversation can be had because we believe communication is the key to not only avoiding these unwanted consequences, but promoting a mutually beneficial relationship between buyer and seller!

Pallet Types

Unmanifested Pallets

Unmanifested pallets are sold from a source without a provided “manifest”, or list of contents (although a general idea of the contents can usually be given by the source). This approach to liquidation requires a much less resource-intensive effort and is used by some sources who place an emphasis on getting rid of merchandise as quickly as possible. But why would someone be interested in purchasing a pallet, or even a truckload, of unknown merchandise? Because most people are unable to purchase this way! Most individuals and operations who buy in bulk must know what specific items they are bringing in to sell, and because this is a requirement of the predominant stock-and-restock business model in the sales industry, unmanifested merchandise must be priced accordingly for a smaller market and larger buyer processing requirement. Not only that, but the nature in which unmanifested merchandise is liquidated can favor the buyer when expensive merchandise is haphazardly included in a bulk purchase at a unit price that is much lower than the percentage of retail that you would expect to pay if that item was accounted for by a manifested method. This is especially true with the higher piece-count pallets which we typically purchase.

Even for the smaller market segment that can entertain such a purchase, unmanifested pallets still present a risky proposition, and they should! While we can honestly say that we have never lost our investment on any one of the hundreds of unmanifested pallets that we have purchased from trusted sources, we understand that it is a possibility with every pallet, and we will not sell to anyone who does not understand this as well!

Unmanifested pallets have a very unique appeal, the unpredictability is addictively exciting and we are proof that they can be profitable, but we do not recommend a potential customer spending any more than they can afford to lose on an unmanifested pallet (or any pallet for that matter)!

Recommendations and Considerations:

  • We recommend high-count unmanifested pallets for people who would like to sell online since these pallets frequently contain obscure items that would benefit from widespread exposure on popular ecommerce platforms like Amazon and eBay, and will not likely incur excessive shipping fees since high piece count loads usually contain smaller items. Really good pallets can contain a handful of these items which pay for the entire pallet!
  • These pallets can contain a lot of items that may be considered trash or filler, which may require something other than residential means of disposal (a pallet can hold a lot more than a standard trash can)!
  • Other items contained in these pallets will not fall into either of the previous categories and will be best suited for garage sales or swap and shop style setups.

Pricing Methodology:

We price our unmanifested pallets by taking what we pay for the entire truckload, dividing that price by the number of pallets delivered, and then apply a flat marginal markup making all of the pallets the same price. As with all of our sales, we ascribe to a very aggressive pricing strategy in which we make money on small margins multiplied by high transaction volume as opposed to making money on larger margins with fewer sales! Our markup represents a small fraction of the actual profit potential a processed pallet means to us when the items are sold individually, and an even smaller fraction of the opportunity cost afforded to our customers who can purchase from us at otherwise unattainable rates. Our transportation rates alone are typically eight times less expensive per pallet than what you would pay to ship the same sized pallet from any of the major liquidation sites online. Additionally, you can be sure that no one can obtain individual pallets at the same rate we are capable of securing by leveraging direct partnerships and volume discounts. Volume purchasing and transportation are just two logistical reasons that we are able to acquire merchandise at great rates, making our prices that much more competitive when combined with our low margin sales model and sourcing quality!

Manifested Pallets

Manifested pallets are liquidated from a source with a provided manifest, or list of contents. Depending on the source, this manifest will typically list the name of the item, quantity, condition, and retail value, with totals at the bottom of each column. Manifests may also label some items as “General Merchandise” with price averages based on department or product type. The advantage to having this information before purchasing is also usually the disadvantage in terms of price (and potential profit if applicable) compared to unmanifested merchandise. However, this is not always the case and is highly dependent on sourcing and your specific use for a particular pallet. As you might imagine, sourcing highly desirable items in good condition at wholesale rates is not easy, if it was everyone would do it! We bring in these rare truckloads when presented with the opportunity, but for anyone interested in purchasing manifested loads on a regular basis, we recommend establishing your sourcing priorities in terms of item, price, condition and quantity so we can help you decide if a certain pallet or truck may be right for you. If there is something specific you are looking for, let us know! We may be able to find it and we won’t hold you to anything, we just like to know what potential customers are interested in when we are sourcing in case we come across the right merchandise!

Recommendations and Considerations:

We recommend manifested pallets for those who are interested in specific items or types of items which can be confirmed by the pallet manifest.

Pricing Methodology:

We apply a standard markup to our manifested pallets that usually brings the price of the pallet within a range of 20-25% of the retail price based on condition and confirmed by the manifest.

Budget Liquidation Pallets

Budget liquidation pallets are the name we give to the mixed merchandise pallets that our operation produces and prices to move quickly! These pallets are filled with filtered merchandise, but that doesn’t mean that the contents aren’t valuable, we have knowingly and unknowingly put highly valuable items in these pallets from time to time! So what exactly are these pallets filled with?

As a “high-turn” operation which places an emphasis on having newly available items each week, having a lot of a specific item isn’t necessarily beneficial for our business because of the time and space required to sell out of that item. Therefore, in these instances we will keep a lower quantity of the item to sell ourselves, and spread out the remaining quantity into different budget liquidation pallets to move quickly. We will also fill these pallets with items from our sales floor. Each week, we go through our entire storefront and remove items which have been available for a few weeks to make room for more merchandise. The items we remove are placed into budget liquidation pallets. In addition to items we receive in high quantity, and the items we remove from our store, we also fill budget liquidation pallets with items we are indifferent about for one reason or another, items that we believe need to be inspected, and items that will not display well in a store setting.

Items that we believe may be defective, missing parts, or need tested can be very valuable to anyone with the time to inspect these items. These items present a challenge for us because of the speed at which we operate and other restrictions specific to us as a business. For example, we have placed name brand air up mattresses in perfect boxes with broken seals in budget liquidation pallets because we do not have the time or space to air each one up as a quality control measure. However, we know the person who can do so stands to get an amazing deal on an item that represents a significant percentage of the the entire pallet purchase! This can also be true about items with missing pieces which can be replaced at a fraction of the cost of the item itself, such as a brand name kitchen appliance. Of course these types of examples are not in every budget liquidation pallet, and when they are there is no guarantee that the item is salvageable, but we make an honest effort to only include suspicious merchandise when the retail value of the item is exponentially higher than the unit price of the item within the budget liquidation pallet!

Items with damaged packaging or do not otherwise display well are also included in budget liquidation pallets. Items in damaged packaging may be in pristine condition, but the condition of the packaging prohibits us from keeping an orderly storefront, and therefore they are included in budget liquidation pallets. Items in nondescript packaging, such as a brown box with no product image or information, are also placed in budget liquidation pallets because they are easily looked over in a store setting. These items especially can be great surprises for buyers. We have sold pallets before that contain items in unassuming packaging worth as much or more than the pallet itself!

In review, this is the type of merchandise you can expect to find in a budget liquidation pallet:

  • Items we have in high quantity
  • Items we remove from our store weekly
  • Items we are indifferent about
  • Items with damaged packaging and/or items that do not display well in a store setting
  • Higher value items we suspect could be defective or missing pieces and need inspected

These are things that we make an honest effort to keep out of our budget liquidation pallets entirely:

  • Trash (wrappers etc)
  • Expired food
  • Adult themed items
  • Recent holiday items
  • An excess of any one item

Pricing Methodology:

Budget liquidation pallets are our way of getting rid of merchandise quickly, and we do so by pricing the pallets as low as we can before we cannot keep up with demand.

Category Specific Pallets

We do not routinely offer category specific pallets because we do not purchase them often and it is easier to clear our floor by combining different types of merchandise for liquidation, however we do acquire an excess of certain types of merchandise from time to time and when we do these pallets will be posted on this page. We also encourage potential customers to request these types of pallets if they are interested in them because we will source this kind of product with enough demand!

General Information

How We Direct Potential Customers

The first question we ask any potential customer is whether or not they have ever purchased a pallet before. This gives us our first indication of how to approach the conversation. We are no less thoughtful or thorough in our answers or explanations based on a customer’s response, however this information does help us understand where we may want to put more or less emphasis in the conversation, and in what order topics should be addressed. Most importantly, we understand each person is different and we try to answer each potential customer’s questions no matter what they might be!

The second question we ask is what a potential customer plans on doing with the pallet they want to purchase. This helps us to point you to certain types of pallets and also explain our other offerings in the context of your current situation. This way you can make an informed decision on the day you come in, but also know what to consider for the future!

What we will not do and cannot be held accountable for is actually picking out a specific pallet for a customer. We make an earnest effort to represent our offerings as accurately as possible based on our experience and a desire to satisfy our customers, but the nature of this industry is one of unpredictability that provides both risk and reward. What is important to understand is that even if we knew everything there was to know about the contents of a pallet, which we can’t, we still would not be in a position to say with certainty whether or not that pallet would serve the intended purpose of the buyer. Put another way, two identical pallets could be sold to two different buyers with the same intent, but the outcome and perspective of the purchase can be totally different between the buyers. Buyers bring their own variables to the table, and like liquidated merchandise, there is no certainty just probability.

We are willing to guide potential customers to what we think are high probability purchases in consideration of the conversation we have with that customer, but we will not actually choose a specific pallet for a customer because a buyer may be inclined to attribute the outcome of a purchase to our influence, and perceive us as being partial. However, we do not treat any customers different from any other customers, and if we show any preferential treatment at all it is toward our customer base as a whole by allowing our customers to purchase any untouched pallet on our floor without pulling more than one at a time for ourselves!

Inspecting Pallet Contents

We allow anyone interested in purchasing a pallet to dig through any pallet that is not plastic wrapped to get an impression of the contents as long as no merchandise is transferred, but after a trip or two you will find that you can’t always rely on your eyes given the uniqueness of each pallet (or for that matter your head as to what’s valuable)! Believe us, hundreds of pallets later and we are still surprised!

Unpredictability and Risk

We stress that the unpredictability of certain types of pallet merchandise is something we deal with ourselves on a much larger scale as an inherent risk, but we do make certain assurances with these types of pallet and try to take care of our customers any way we can; assurances we are not afforded ourselves when purchasing!

Purchasing and Pickup

We require in-person payment and pickup for all merchandise. We do not accept remote payment and we do not offer shipping on a per-pallet basis. These services introduce logistical issues that complicate the transaction and require more resources, in effect increasing prices and the likelihood of a negative customer experience.

We are no longer allowing customers to tear down a pallet onsite to load into the cabins of personal vehicles because of the time and space required to do so.
